serien°umerica

I came across the brand serien°umerica while browsing my inbox this week and fell in love with their simple, clean aesthetic and beautiful use of leather. The bags can be worn in various ways and the leather gilets are adaptable and even fold into bags thanks to the placement of ingenious hooks (3.1 Philip Lim anyone?). The two designers behind the Italian brand are Maria De Ambrogio and Stella Tosco who worked closely with various artisans to create this accessory collection. Also check out the different-sized shoppers which incorporate aluminium in the leather to give it that wrinkled effect.

My Marni for H&M picks

I was very excited to hear the latest H&M collaboration was going to be Marni and the first images had me (almost) saving pennies. Then some more images dropped and my delight faded somewhat. Until, that is, I just saw what will actually be on offer! OMG only the perfect pyjama-suit, sandals, heels, bag and sunnies. Bye-bye bank balance, hello Marni!

Elastic band embellishment

Who’d have thought a plain elastic band could double up as a fashionable accessory? Well, Dutch designer Martine Viergever certainly did with her Gummi-C project. The idea is that small silver or gold ‘beads’ are added to an elastic band, transforming them from functional objects to pretty little wrist trinkets. It works by stretching the rubber band, then slipping on the specially designed ornaments and voilá, your bracelet is born!

The nude colour in which most elastic bands come is already great but Viergever suggests adding coloured bands to match your outfit. It’s a little bit of genius if you ask me and will definitely be making an appearance at my arm party soon enough!
